Obrigada for the pictures and all the encouragement. I really appreciate it! So a huge miracle just happened today as we were walking into the library. Well, first off my companions wanted to go to the library earlier but I asked them if we could go 30 mins later this week bcz you all write back later. And when we got to the library we saw a lady we door knocked into. She was such a nice lady, said she had a book of Mormon and would start reading it again. Well, anyways so we saw her at the library and just got talking to her and then her friend came up. I noticed her friend had an accent and my companion asked her where she was from and she was from Rio! I didn't even know what to do haha but I told her I was going to Brazil she was so nice and said she is always at her friends house, so we got her friends number and they said yea lets set up a date and you all can come over. It was such a miracle I met a Brazilian out here in Michigan and she has two young kids. I just thought that was so awesome! The Lord is really trying to help me, my zone leader also set a day once a week where the other visa waiters can call me and we can talk in Portuguese for 10 mins... I feel so blessed that so many people care about helping me with the language. Heavenly Father is always watching out for me and caring for me even when I feel like I don't deserve it.
Well this week has been great, we had exchanges this week so I definitely felt like a leader that day with more responsibility. It was good, I am striving to be that leader. Well, we haven't heard from one of our investigators who is suppose to be getting baptized soon, so we went over to her place, and I don't even know who answered the door because it was not her... You knew it was the adversary talking to us, she was so mad at us because we didn't bring over a packet to help her quit smoking right away. And I never felt more compassion in my life, I tried to explain to her that we have it ready we want to bring it over, basically pleading for forgiveness. She said we didn't care about her. It hurt because I don't want people to think that I don't care about them because if they only knew how much we pray and prepare for them. I don't know what will happen with her, I feel bad for her kids. She did say she still loves us I think she will come around soon. The members are amazing at fellow-shipping her. That day we were on exchanges so the other sister told me wow you are really compassionate I would have been like, well you have the scriptures and prayer I think your fine. haha So I did need to realize that I am not responsibly for her actions.
Besides that, it was a great week. It got rainy and cold this weekend, we had a ward picnic and met some great people, a family that we have been calling finally showed up.. That would be awesome if we got to teach them. Also, I don't even know how I got sucked into a watermelon eating contest...but I did! my comp has pics of that maybe I can get them from her to send. But it was fun..There are just some amazing people here and I couldn't even imagine not meeting these people, I am so happy to be here in Battle Creek.
There is this awesome recent convert family in the ward, the Hernandez. Their first language is spanish, and I told them yesterday that I like some hymns better in spanish. They said they have a spanish hymn book but don't know how the hymns go and would like to hear them. I told them to checklds.org and maybe they have it in spanish but if you all have a spanish church cd, I would love it if you could send it to me. Anyways I just wish they could sing in spanish they would be a solid family in the branch back home! Enserio!
Last night we had dinner at the relief society president's house she is from france but grew up on a little island that speaks french. She just told us an amazing story about her life, and how she was one of the first few people to join the church where she grew up. She told us how when she got married they had no money or home, but that going to the temple, reading her scriptures and prayer is what got her through. She has such amazing faith and she said its hard for her to take pity on other people when all we have to do is the basics and heavenly father will always provide a way. It is so true, as long as we do our part, he will always do his.
Well familia, eu espero que tudo-bem! Such amazing milagres this week! Thank you for all that you do!!
Eu te amo!
